How to choose the right candidate in the GE

February 20, 2008

One of the readers of this blog sent me his thoughts on what to look for in a candidate before you use the power of X for your choice.

He makes a lot of sense so i am reproducing what i have received from him for your consideration:

When you’re buying a diamond, you look for the 4Cs : clarity, cut, color and carat weight.

However, if you’re looking to find a gem of a candidate when considering who to elect as your wakil rakyat or Member of Parliament, you should look for the 5Cs in the candidate:

1. Clean

Above all, he/she must have the highest level of integrity and be trustworthy and free from corruption

2. Capable

Does the candidate have the ability to do the job properly ?

3. Committed

Is the candidate standing because he/ she really wants to serve or is he /she just a politician or opportunist ?

4. Caters to All

Does the candidate look after the interests of all or does he/she only cater to certain racial groups, income groups or other special groups ?

5. Contactible

Is the candidate going to be still around the constituency to serve or will he/she just show his/her face just before the elections and thereafter disappear for the next few years ?

If you know or if you think you are confident that the candidate meets all the above criteria, then go ahead and vote accordingly !

your VOTE is a Vital Opportunity To Empower,
therefore exercise this privilege wisely.

Remember, remember, the power of X

  1. I choose another C. Without this C Malaysia become ‘deadly land’

    C = Controversy
    C = Cheeerrrrrsss

  2. This is crazy!!! Msia politics are so lop sided

  3. KK Yan is spot on.
