The mainstream media is no longer relevant in this country

March 10, 2008

The rakyat has rejected you.

The outcome of the 12th General Election proves it.

Your spins, lies and misinformation did nothing to divide, sway nor frighten us. We are not bodoh. You are. The more you continue to churn out the shit that you do the faster you drown in your excreta.

Zam (he is gone, victim of his own goblok-ing), Kalimullah (the wolf of Jalan Riong), Wong Chung Wai, the mr-know-alls of the 4th floor and your ilk in the other news media can kiss my a**e.

The haprak masters that you kowtow to and serve are the cause of your own downfall. You have become irrelevant. Can you smell the stink? Can you smell the stench of your impending death?

Despite all the resources and the ampu-bodeks that you have at your beck and call, you are reduced to naught. How else do you explain the rakyat not buying what you spew?

The rakyat don’t read you. They read blogs … B-L-O-G-S … blogs.

Welcome to the brave new world of real news and information without borders.

I agree. Utusan today spins it as if the lost was the fault of the the other coalition members. I bet it’s the view of many UMNO members, too. They conveniently forgot that they lost a predominantly Malay state, Kedah and got slaughtered in Kelantan.

RPK, Haris & Rocky Bru has successfully mobilised the rakyat’s declaration. I suggesst that they mobilise the rakyat again to boycott all mainsteam media that do not report responsibly. Let them carry on spinning and we shall see how long they can survive without sales.

The MSM is like a gasing that spins anti-clockwise. Now how can there be a gasing that spins anti-clockwise?

  5. ewoon….S U P E R C A L I F R A G E L I S T I C E X P I C A L I D O C I O U S…..or what ever how the kids want to spell it….phonetically it sounded ok.

“Kali the wolf”….you missed wong the MCA stool 9as in faeces……you called it execreta…..well ok, e comes before f.

I woke up on Monday still trying to assimilate the flood of information which my puny brain had to contend with on the night of 8th March and early morning of 9th March 2008. I look around me and saw that the roads, the buildings, offices, houses, shops and restaurants all look the same. Nothing seems to have changed.

But there was a gnawing doubt in me which put to lie the illusion. For something has changed. Where i live and work, in Bukit Damansara and Hartamas is really ‘opposition’ territory. And the reason i put the opposition in hypenated commas is because for me, they are not opposition anymore. They are the ruling coalition! And in my backyard! And in the backyards of the PM, Ministers, super-senior civil servants, and corporate leaders. It is not only that the ‘opposition’ took 5 states. But what they took! The jewel in the crown, the richest, and one of the most (if not the most!) developed and most urbane population of the country.

Now i have to accept the possibility that there is an alternative to BN. At least at the State level. And after 3 elections of voting a Segambut MP whom i have never even seen, I am kinda relieved. I voted for the status quo on Saturday, but i am so glad that so many of my fellow citizens did not! I am not much on principles and ideology, being a pragmatic fellow, and am inclined in all instances to support the winner. Well, we know who the winners are now!

I just hope that the opposition can find the will and humility to work together. They have 5 years at least to get it right. But they shall be monitored and tracked each and every day they have assumed power.

DAP, PAS and PKR have all said they are different. That they will show how a government should be run. And how good this country can be. Good luck and may their conscience guide their hands well.

As for the mainstream media… I have always been able to swallow the spin, in the sense of having the ability to read the text without getting physically ill. But Monday 10th of March, saw the NST, Metro and UM plumbing new lows of creative journalism. They were not reporting. They were rebutting. How strange.

Its just that this time aroung, i cannot ignore the huge orange elephant in the room. The utter and tragic defeat of BN. And my mouth just ain’t big enough to swallow the gigantic spin they are trying to force down my throat. Hehehe.

  7. taufiq: loved your comment. :)

unlike you, i’ve never voted for the status quo, but i would love to wake up one day and experience what you just have. i’m from sarawak (the bedrock of the ruling blablabla..) and i truly, truly envy your state.

  8. Don’t just carried it away
There is always the dark and light
In every aspect of one’s life
    Even in business of reporting
The thin line of integrity is hard to define

When one is just earning a living
To earn to put food on the table
To enjoy a certain joys of life
It is hard to follow one’s conscious
When money and living is the integral partners

When a boss wants certain issues
Nobody can dispute it though dissent allow
This is as much as it goes
The subject will still be published
It is even hard for those who wanted to be fair
But when serving a master who doesn’t care
    About integrity and honesty……..

    And about living…….
It is much difficult to balance the scale
    In the world of business
    The wolf walks freely until………….
Something like Barisan Rakyat ignites the glow
And let the fire in the eyes flow
Knowing that something new will happen
In the country for the people

    Politics of reporting
    It is about earning profits
    For the company to survive
    So there will be shit
    Stamping its marks

It is the watch dog making the difference
    In a life of a person……..
    To a make a decision

Just as how the people’s power “makkal Sakti” played its role in changing the history of BN, it is now time for the same power to start working on denying the MSMs by half in the next one year.

We must deny “The Star, NST, Berita Harian, Utusan Malaysia, TV3 and RTM channels

  10. I totally agree. Blogs have made arrived as influential opinion leaders in our country. The Rakyat now have less faith in the mainstream media, because everything looks souped up to make the news on our Government more palatable for the Rakyat’s consumption. Everything the spin doctors ordered. Looks like a blog a day has kept the spin doctors away, and upsetted the government’s apple cart. Perhaps it’s time for the Government to throw away the bad apples from its cart.

The MSM went into overkill for the 12GE. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back…opposition voices totally blacked out and lies were spewed…the Oppostion only had ceramahs & technology to battle the struggle. So the backlash of Malaysians is een today.

I wonder about the advisers to BN ..what spins were they giving to their masters? How about the SB? The intelligentsia and ofcourse the stupid slavish MSM who couldn’t even see the avalanche of discontent begfore their eyes?

They are all OUT OF TOUCH with the truth!!!

Can’t be truer Mr ewoon – the lying papers are DEAD.

Blogs like Rocky’s, Haris’s and yours are no longer alternative.

You guys are THE source of info in this brave new world of ours.

Thank you for all that you have done, Mr ewoon.
