“Online sedition guidelines” not ready yet, and to be tabled in Parliament
It seems the Home Minister and his ministry are still struggling with the ‘final set’ of codes.
Reason being, according to the ministry’s secretary-general, they are “looking at the definition of “publication” and whether it should include Internet content, blogs or Facebook to expand the Act due to the changing landscape of the digital era.”
It was setting “guidelines” in the beginning; now they are looking to amend an Act. And, for debate in the August House this coming March to boot. Pretty serious stuff here won’t you agree? Just wondering what or who was responsible for spurring on this latest move. Any idea, folks?
Anyway, it’s good the minister and his ministry are being thorough. It’s not often we hear of nor encounter such diligence in any ministry. We will have to be patient and wait till all “loopholes” are plugged.
