Will Peter Vanezis be threatened again?

March 28, 2011

It was reported last year Professor Peter Vanezis, of Barts and the London Hospital, has received an ‘offensive, intimidating and threatening’ email, which has caused him to fear for the well-being of his family. This allegedly occurred when he was giving evidence as a forensic pathologist at the inquest into the contested death of Teoh Beng Hock, political aide to ADUN Ean Yong, in Kuala Lumpur during the same period.

Peter Vanezis had apparently made a police report after receiving the threat but we have not heard anything substantial regarding its investigation, which is a real shame. The greater eternal shame to Malaysia’s image, is that this cowardly and criminal act did not receive much attention in our country then – and it is the same even now. But today The Telegraph has published a story regarding this threat against his personal safety and it serves as a reminder to us that Peter Vanezis’ safety is our national responsibility while he is on duty here. It is also a reminder that our mainstream media should not only be overwhelmed by the emotions surrounding the circumstances leading to Teoh Beng Hock’s death but also take heed to the seeming lesser criminal activities happening on the side that may have an impact on the final outcome of this Royal Commission of Inquiry.

It will be Peter Vanezis’ turn to testify at the RCI from tomorrow and his presence is expected to be required till Wednesday.

Will there be a repeat of the cowardly, criminal threat against Peter Vanezis? This we will have to wait and see, won’t we?

For the story carried by The Telegraph today, click here. The following is a short extract …

British forensic expert threatened in Malaysia

A leading British forensic expert who testified at the inquest into the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, is living in fear of his safety in Malaysia after being called in to help investigate the death of a government aide.

For an interesting take of some of the hullaballoos that are going on related to the current RCI, please go read “DAP claims MACC documents are false” here. Here’s an excerpt on what to expect …

So, when these documents were shown during the Royal Commission of Inquiry on Monday, the first thing Teresa Kok did was to deny it.

Is she insinuating that these cheques are forged too? If so, I would suggest that Teresa Kok now go make a police report immediately on these false cheques that were shown to have been banked into their DAP account!

You will have to take sometime to read this, but boy will you see some hard truths starring back at you.
