PETALING JAYA: Fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, or better known as Jho Low has not given up his quest to seek immunity from the government.

News broadcaster Astro Awani reported Wednesday (Oct 31) that Low had only last week contacted an officer to Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) chairman Tun Daim Zainuddin to seek immunity.

“He did not call me but he called an officer of mine last week,” Daim told Astro Awani in an interview excerpt from a special programme titled “Perspective Tun Daim” on Wednesday (Oct 31).

Daim said Low has been requesting for many things, among which was to meet him and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, adding that he was trying to influence them.

“He has money, he can do anything, change his face or whatever, I don’t know,” Daim was quoted as saying.

According to the interview, Daim had two requests for Low – one was for him to return to Malaysia and the other was for him to give names.

“He kept quiet. I said you cannot deliver, so why should I talk to you?” Daim said.

It is not clear who are the individuals sought by the former finance minister.

Low is wanted for his role in the multi-billion-dollar scandal at state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
