Tun Mahathir – Pakatan Harapan has lost it. Johor Sultan, Singapore water, ECRL, flying cars are not bread-and-butter …

April 15, 2019

* Forget idealism or anti corruption – people want jobs, housing, low cost of living, free education & cash

This post is reproduced from here ‘cos it’ll disappear in a few days. Don’t know why blogger keeps deleting his posts, which make sense and good reading. So this one’s archived here for posterity, and will be a constant ‘kick in the ass’ for the PH administration …

UPDATED WITH THE COMMENT OF THE MONTH (THANK YOU).
HERE IS THE COMMENT:

The PH gomen is lying about the toll compensation. If the gomen can renegotiate with mighty China on ECRL why can’t they renegotiate the agreement with PLUS and others, when they themselves are a major shareholder? They could even terminate them if they want.

If a By Election is held in Jalan Masjid India tomorrow, the Pakatan Harapan will also get kicked out.

If a By Election is held in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman tomorrow, the PH will get kicked out as well.

If there are By Elections held in Kedah or the Felda areas tomorrow, the PH will get kicked out.

The decades of extreme hardwork and lifelong commitment of the Jalan Masjid India and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman business people are being trampled upon in favour of unknown hawkers and illegal warong traders who are essential components of the DBKL’s corrupted ‘street hawker’ scam. This was going on under the BN. It is still going on now under the PH.

That River of Life project is being worked at a dead snail’s pace – messing up the area for two years now, roads have been closed, sidewalks ripped up, traffic heavily disrupted resulting in heavy loss of business.

And get this – the hawkers and illegal warong operators do not even live there or vote there. Many, many of them come from as far away as Indonesia. They are NOT your voters.

Your voters are the business community who have spent their whole lives building up Jalan Masjid India and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman to be what it is today. They are being trampled upon. These folks will also not vote for the PH anymore.

Just like in Rantau.

Before I analyse Rantau a little, here is some really, extremely very important feedback from some citizens of Rantau on what is NOT happeming in Rantau.

This is from The Star :

Chinese, 18.5% voters in Rantau, want economic, job opportunities for locals
Wong, a resident said town was very robust in 70s.
lots of people on the main road. Now sleepy town,” he said

Due to lack of opportunities, young had no choice but to leave to look for jobs
no idea what to do here
no one would leave hometown, family if they could make decent living

many friends, relatives work in Singapore, my daughter, sister, her husband, niece
Salaries higher in S’pore but hectic and more stressful working there
if there were more development, economic activities, locals would not leave

son worked in KL selling computers. salary RM2,000.
After rental, food, transport, not much left
came back to help me operate this food stall,” she said.

retail chain wanted to open branch in Kuala Sawah but could not find decent shop
Lim Wei Ling, a hawker said not much changes over past few years
I have been operating this stall for 20 years. Not much changes here.

20,926 voters in Rantau.
55% or 11,615 voters Malay
26% or 5,441 voters Indian

My comments [OutSyed The Box]: Well you folks are Chinese. So no one cares about you.

N’theless these comments exactly reflect the weak attitudes of the governments – before (ie the BN) and now PH.

The government is not focussing on developing the entire community.

Development has been selective, chunky, often one time only type of investment.
And often localised ‘white elephants’ that miss the target.
(Just count the number of giant sized dewan serbaguna in the country.)

Build up the peoples’ resilience to progress themselves.
The trick is to grow the people – such that the people can develop the economy by themselves and do not need the government anymore. All the people.

This is not happening.

From Teluk Datai in Langkawi to Tanjong Labian in Sabah we have wonderful towns and villages which have unlimited potential to sustain ALL our people – independent of the government.

We really do not need government except to run the schools well, the hospitals, police, the airports, ports, provide power, water and pick up the garbage. Otherwise stay out of the peoples’ way. This was the government did – but a long time ago. Maybe in the 1970s.

Given the right education, training and attitude the people will flourish.
This is not happening.
Government is standing in the way.
The government is a hindrance.

Like what is going on in Jalan Masjid India, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and in so many other places. The government is a damned hindrance.

That is why the people voted out the BN.
Now they are voting out the PH
If the BN wins again and does not perform – the people will vote them out again.
But at what cost? So much wasted time.
It will be a see-saw between the BN and the PH.
Peoples’ lives will be over before anything real can happen.

Now here are some thoughts on not just Rantau but the SEVEN by elections that have been held so far.

  1. Sg Kandis in Selangor was the first PRK (Pilihanraya Kecil) which was held on 4th Aug 2018. It was less than THREE months after the 14th GE on May 9th, 2018.

The Pakatan Harapan won Sg Kandis but with a smaller majority. The majority decreased from 12,000 votes down to 5,800 votes. The voter turnout was also low at 49%. This was too soon after the GE and maybe people were still recovering from election fatigue but n’theless the much reduced majority was an indication. Within three months, the people were not seeing anything great from the PH.

  1. Sri Setia in Selangor was the second PRK held on 8th September 2018. Although the PH won, the reduction in the number of votes for the PH was humongous. From scooping up 29,000 votes in the GE, PH’s votes went down to 13,725. (Because the voter turnout was only 44% dummy!) Whatever – it was still down by a whopping 16,000 votes. People did not even come out to vote. They were getting fed up.
  2. Next up was the Balakong PRK held on 8th September 2018. The turnout was even lower at 43%. Although the PH won (DAP) the votes for the PH decreased from 41,000 during the GE, down to 22,000 in the PRK. That was a loss of 19,000 votes. People just did not come out.

  1. Then there was Brader Anwar’s Port Dickson move. The Port Dickson PRK took place on 13th October 2018. (I say Brader Anwar what happened to your ‘mee segera’ PD Master Plan? Which you unveiled in a world record time of just FOUR DAYS?)

PD Master Plan.

Where is the camera man?

Is the cameraman ready ?

In Port Dickson the voter turnout at 58% was higher than the FOUR previous PRK’s. The PH (Anwar Ibrahim) won but still the total votes for PH decreased from 36,000 (during the 14th GE) down to 31,000. Higher turnout but less votes for PH. The votes for the BN increased.

  1. Next was the Cameron Highlands PRK held on 26th January 2019. Something began happening at the Cameron’s PRK, the voter turnout began going up – to 69%. And reversing the trend of the previous FOUR PRKs, the BN won. Plus  the tally for the BN increased from 10,000 to 12000 votes.

(Note : In the FOUR previous By Elections (Sg Kandis, Sri Setia, Balakong, PD) which were all won by the PH, the vote majority for the PH was decreasing in all four seats.

But at the Cameron Highland’s PRK, the first win for the BN, the BN secured a higher vote tally than during the 14th GE. The people were really getting tired of the Pakatan Harapan – in just NINE months.

PAKATAN HARAPAN MENANG EMPAT PRK TETAPI JUMLAH UNDI BERKURANGAN.

BILA BN MENANG PRK, JUMLAH UNDI UNTUK BN BERTAMBAH PULA! )

  1. Then it was the PRK in Semenyih, held on 2nd March 2019. The voter turnout was even higher at 73%. More people were coming out to vote to show their displeasure at the Pakatan Putus Harapan.

Not only did the BN win easily BUT the votes for the BN INCREASED again – from 14,000 achieved during the 14th GE to 19,000. An extra 5,000 votes.

And get this, this was formerly a PH seat – belonging to Parti Bersatu (my party!!)

  1. Now the PRK Rantau has been held yesterday 13th April 2019. The voter turnout was even higher at 79%. Yes the SPR is doing a better job at getting the voters to come out to vote but the truth is the people want to show their displeasure at the PH.

The BN has won again – now its THREE PRKs in a row.

The BN / UMNO’s Mohamed Hassan defeated PH’s Dr S. Streram by a majority of 4,510 votes to win the Rantau state seat, which he has held for the past 15 years anyway. Mohamad garnered 10,397 votes to Streram’s 5,887.

There is something else to note here. The PH’s director of operations for the Rantau By Elections was none other than the Guinness Book of World Record’s “Port Dickson Master Plan In Four Days” Brader Anwar Ibrahim. The PKR’s wannabe Prime Minister.

PD Master Plan.

Where is the camera man?

Is the cameraman ready ?

Just SIX months ago (Oct 13th, 2018) Brader Anwar won the Port Dickson By Election. Now, despite him singing and dancing with the Indians, he has lost Rantau to the UMNO kleptocrats. Mohamed Hassan is famous for that RM10 million ‘money transfer’ case. Despite all that he still won.

Conclusion :

ITS ALWAYS THE ECONOMY STUPID.

THERE IS NO FREE MARKET IN MALAYSIA. THE ECONOMY IS CLOSER TO A FAILED SOCIALIST AND COMMUNIST MODEL.

The economy is not doing great at all. Business is tanking.

Yesterday my wife went to the kedai cermin mata across the road to fix something. Sudah tutup kedai. That kedai cermin mata was there for so many long years.

The government does not understand.
The Minimum Wage is killing business.

  1. Postpone the Minimum Wages. Declare a FIVE year Moratorium for the Minimum Wages. Until our economic growth hits at least 6% and above. Why cannot? Indonesia, Philippines are achieving better than that.

Our Third World, labour intensive, low technology economy cannot afford Minimum Wages.

  1. Cut the tolls. Reduce the tolls by at least HALF A SEN per kilometre. Itu pun tak boleh kah?

Folks here is an unkept secret :

  1. PLUS DOES NOT PAY CORPORATE TAXES. PLUS HAS BEEN EXEMPTED FROM PAYING TAXES. BANYAK CANTIK KAN? THEY SUCK OUT SO MUCH MONEY FROM US BUT THEY THEMSELVES DO NOT HAVE TO PAY TAXES.
  2. ALSO A PORTION OF PLUS’ TOLL REVENUES ARE PAID DIRECTLY TO THE GOVERNMENT. SO THE GOVERNMENT IS A DIRECT BENEFICIARY OF PLUS’ TOLL REVENUES. SO WHY WOULD THE GOVERNMENT WANT TO GET THE TOLLS REDUCED?

Cut or abolish the tolls.

  1. Cut the duties, levies, taxes, whatever on imported motorcars.
Objective : take the car prices DOWN to match world market prices.

Yes I want to buy another Mercedes. Or Toyota. Its my right.

Why should I pay TWO OR THREE TIMES MORE than the Americans for a Toyota?

I am NOT a rich American. I am a poor Malaysian.

Why should I be paying THREE TIMES more than the Americans for a Toyota or a Mercedes?
Something is seriously wrong with car prices in this country.

  1. Abolish the monopolies and oligopolies.

TNB, POS Malaysia, Bernas, Petronas, Syabas, Bukan Syabas, Puas, Tak Puas, Metrology, the GLC companies, the severely restricted Banking system, are all causing huge damage to the economy. They are lazy, and yes “indolent”, inefficient, non competitive.

Free market competition, innovation and creativity in the economy has been stifled for the past 40 years, especially over the past 15 years.

THERE IS NO FREE MARKET IN MALAYSIA.

THE ECONOMY IS CLOSER TO A FAILED SOCIALIST AND COMMUNIST MODEL.

SPECIAL BRANCH PLEASE GO AND ‘ABDUCT’ ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY SOCIALISTS AND COMMUNISTS.

THEY ARE A THREAT TO OUR NATIONAL SECURITY.

  1. Abolish the APs.

Why did the MITI issue 36 new APs? MITI Minister Darrel Leiking the YB from Sepilok does not seem to understand.

The question is WHY issue APs at all?

Why do we need an AP to import onions?

I say YB Sepilok, lu tak suka makan bawang kah?

APs to import Christmas turkeys? Why?

The APs INCREASE the selling price of imported goods.
The APs DO NOT ADD any value at all to the imported goods.

Abolish the AP system. Please do it yesterday.

APs cause prices of goods to become higher.

  1. Get rid of Zakir Naik. You have lost the 26% Indian vote in Rantau also because of Zakir Naik. You also lost the > 20% Indian vote in Cameron Highlands also because of Zakir Naik. It all adds up.

Or you can hang Zakir Naik around your neck and go and jump into the nearest sh_thole. Its your choice.

Get rid of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Get rid of the pro ISIS university (it is still operating in Shah Alam, now they have a ‘for show’ only Melayu CEO but the pro ISIS Pak Arab are still running the place.)

Get rid of that trouble causer from the Darul Teroris in the north.

Latest rumour is he wants to be appointed the DG of Jakim !!

Walau eh!

  1. The Pakatan Harapan just does not have talent – in its MPs or in the Cabinet. The Ministers are just clowning around. Their incompetence is coming out super loud and clear.

Most need to be replaced. Or the PM has to micro-manage the Ministries.
You really don’t have much choice.

That smoking ban was a dumb thing to do.
It has upset too many people.

Now no more straws for cold drinks ??

Where is the evidence for global warming?

In the first place who says CO2 causes global warming?

Where is the scientific evidence?

More nefarious – talk is some are now getting rich. Hou bou?

Then came the whopper of whoppers.
You said ‘Jangan Percaya Janji Kami’.
‘Jangan Percaya Manifesto Kami’

The PM does not seem to have a grip on the everyday things.

People really dont care too much about the Johor Sultan issue.
Just change the system? Problem solved.

But NO. The Sedition Act has been ‘de-abolished’.
At first it was lined up for being abolished.
Then it was de-abolished.

Why?

Just ABOLISH the Sedition Act.
Then you will see how high the parasites can jump.

You know that the only reason they can bullshit for so long is because they are protected by the Sedition Act. So just abolish the Sedition Act.

But will you do it? Not likely.
Then why complain?
Looks like it is just a main wayang.

And be prepared to lose.

There is more. Much more.

Letih lah. [Very tired already.]

Reading your remarks and comments here, I too feel the same! A bunch of hopeless ass lickers and balls carriers MPs and Ministers who are all good for nothing! What good have they done for the rakyats? Every bail out meant the rakyats are going to suffer more! The money don’t come from PAS nor BN but from Bank Negara and those are rakyats money! The majority ethnic probably don’t care a damn becos they are not the main contributors to that money! There are more bail out to come – all the shits left behind by them! At this moment, i think PH has lost their sense of directions! The Ministers are happy in their cages and they got no street sence nor street wise! Much things needed to be done are not done whereas things that are not needed to be done are being enforced! What is the difference of a black or white shoes as long as you got a pair of shoes to wear to school! And if for the next 6-12 months things still remained the same with no further action… more rakyats are disheartened. Yah! So why not we go back to the corrupted ways of ruinning the country… you dare … you benefit out of it! This current farking Federal Government, move your ass and get things done! The whole world is moving forward and we are moving backwards! Come next election, if you can’t improve… I will vote all you MFs out and let our country be swallowed by daring corrupted guys who can still get things moving! KNN! :) :) :)

https://www.sott.net/article/411097-Corbett-Report-The-Dark-History-of-Minimum-Wage

“It seems like a great irony that the policies that are meant to help the poor are the same policies that are taking away their jobs. But in fact, this is not a bug in the policy, but a feature.”

“In his work, Leonard demonstrates how this propensity for minimum wage laws to keep the poor, the “feebleminded,” the “shiftless,” and other “unemployables” out of the work force was not some fringe idea or unwanted side effect of these policies, but the main economic argument for putting these laws into place. The idea, according to its leading proponents, was to make sure that the undesirable workers would not be able to get work by undercutting the wages of more “respectable” labourers, and thus they would not be able to support families. By this process, the family trees of those deemed unworthy of the minimum wage would dwindle and the families of “better stock” who could earn their keep at a higher wage would flourish.”

– last para is almost never heard (eugenics effect in minimum wage) but yes, job competition heats ups at the lower wage strata due to minimum wage. Employers hiring less and picks better (experienced or hard worker) candidates out of the low wage pool – common sense after all.

What that means to Malaysia – employers will keep preferring outsiders because they work without MCs, issues, work harder and etc. Locals are usually more problematic. Increasing the minimum wage even further will exarcebate the “feature” and increase the number of foreign workers trying to get in.

Set it high enough, then AI automation takes over.
Good luck low wage humans.

To ensure iron clad victory, stir up the issues of Bangsa, agama, raja among the rural folks ..tell them Dap/Chinese/Christian/Indian are the real nation decision makers and…abadacadabra….back is power with a vengeance. Stupid PH, u make this country drowning deeply into extreme ethno-religious society. The poor minority will have a hefty price to pay , whilst their rich and educated brethren have already migrated or have enough surplus to weather the coming storms. Tun, better buck up and be more stern with your underperforming ministers. Your political enemies was just handed a needed lifeline..bad news.

My suggestion:

1. Forget 3rd national car. Forget “nasional” tag for any car. Dont protect local car brand anymore. Car price will drop and it will help cobsumers save money.

2. Some will say that local brands will bungkus, many will lose jobs. When that happens i will say padan muka memang patut pun. All these years sapa suruh depa not to export their products.

3. Wind down GLCs or privatised them. Let them compete on level playing field. If they bungkus, let them be. We the working class people slog like a dog and yet, GLC directors makan kenyang. Pundek laa.

4. Jual MAS. Period. Many scrap metal ah nehs willing to buy their aircrafts.

5. Azmin just announced bail outs for Felda and TH. Apa ni? Why not you saman their board members, recover whatever you can? No more bail out please. Loans, ok, but no more such thing as dijamin kerajaan. The reason why board members of these companies go rougue is because of dijamin kerajaan clause. Kalau bisness koyak for whatever reason, lantak laaa. Private people like us sink or swim on our own; why cant they?

6. Liberalize the banking sector. Big banks are useless to small businesses. They are arrogant because they are big.

7. Free up tanah terbiar for farmers.

PH politicians are majority from umno previously, this is clearly evident in their lacklustre “tidak apa esok lusa lain kali saja” attitude. To add salt to the wound the public servants are umno/BN zombies, they would not give any sign of enthusiasm of determination in whatever they do, none.
Then we have DAP who showed effort in delivering their promise as displayed by Guan Eng and Gobind Singh. Unfortunately DAP has been made the bogeyman for far too long by Dr.M when he’s the umno head honcho has stigmatized the party to the core.
Dr.M has been telling the malays they are inferior but they are Tuans and only umno can take care of them and that DAP is the devil has worked but came back to haunt him too.
In summary, it boils down to Dr.M, he brought the calamities to Msia and karma is now calling to collect. Countries around Msia are moving forward progressing while my TanahAirKu is drowning in their own waste. G’luck Msia and Msian.

Bear in mind BN/ PAS is still playing with racial n religious issues to win the Malay mind and they are gaining grounds with their simpleton audiences. What the Malay masses don’t realize is that despite 61 years of UMNO rule their economic life styles have not improved and they are still harping on the minority that have taken over their economic rice bowl! For any logical thinking person this is an insult to the Malay race as the major power n economic well being are under the Malay majority control! If the simpleton folks don’t wake up then the country is heading for disaster such as a 10million money transfer guy get elected to decide your economic well being. Rantau was not the total disaster for the ruling coalition it has been made out to be.

While the BN’s winning majority of 4,510 in the Rantau by-election yesterday might look large, it was actually a reduced majority compared to its 2013 general election winning majority of 4,613. (BN had won unopposed in the 2018 general election when the PKR candidate was sensationally disqualified.)

What may have gone unnoticed is that PKR’s share of the valid votes cast in Rantau has actually increased since the 2004 general election.

Share of PKR votes over total valid votes:

2004 – 18.6%
2008 – 33.8%
2013 – 35.3%
2018 – Disqualified
2019 – 36.5%

A steady increase there – despite Pas no longer being in Pakatan Harapan after 2013 and Dr S Streram being an outsider to the area. So it is not all doom and gloom. After all, BN lost half a dozen by-elections on the trot after the 2008 general election – and yet retained power in the 2013 general election.

That said, as Dr Jeyakumar Devaraj noted some time ago, ” The very survival of the PH government and the reform process that it is trying to implement beyond the next general election will hinge on how successfully the economic anxieties of the bottom 40% are allayed over the next four years.”

Cameron Highlands by-election: There should be no discrimination in development
PH politicians really must look into the economic insecurities of the people, especially the bottom 20% of the population. Jeyakumar has proposed some concrete steps which should be implemented.

Of course, any new policies or reforms must be explained to the rakyat properly. If necessary, townhouse meetings should be held to get feedback as well.

Meanwhile, get rid of those neoliberal economic policies. Dump the MySalam scheme, the third car project and all other questionable mega projects. Focus on the bottom 40%, high food prices, the lack of low-income housing, the long waits at general hospitals…

Lacking in direction? Here are dome directions.

Can do immediately.Right now.Today

1. No AP.100% agree. Power of Federal Government under MITI. Can do right now
2. Reduce toll. 100% agree. Federal Govt got golden share. Can do right now
3. Kick out Zakar Naik. Can do tonight. Total discretion of Home Minister

Short term. (within 1 year)

1. Abolish the monopolies and oligopolies. Why quiet now on Bernas? Last year said nak abolish rice import AP. TM still caj super expensive broadband rates. Slower than Vietnam. Invite in Singtel, NTT (japan) or KT (south korea) in. Want to do study first ,ah? How long?

2. Abolish Sedition Act. Must go to Parliament first. But totally can do. Lets see internet discussion in yellow brats twitter feed when there is no more Act

3. No minimum wage. Agree. Power of federal Government under Labor Ministry. Must go to Parliament first. However can set down to RM 0 today

Long term (before GE15)

1. Abolish toll.

Failure to do all this (its in your frakking Manifesto) will set PH for the Opposition bench again in the very near future against a bitter , angry and looking for revenge BN.

ostb, your points rgds to the ph ministers are correct. no denying that some are hopeless and short of workable solutions. its not ideas, but solutions that the people want.

but i beg to differ a bit.

to begin with, the econnomy wasnt quite humming for the past 5 years too. after oil started to drop, the country has been struggling to invest in areas that build up the other parts of the economy. add to trump reducing the interest rates, the market is shrinking too.

the signs were there all along, BUT….we were so consumed by the shenanigans of MO1, the noises of felda, TH, rosmah etc etc.

we were distracted by the crooks. clearing up the s+%t takes up time and effort. renegotiating the one-sided deals SAVES money. but these does not immediately flow to the rakyat just yet.

so now the focus is back on the economy. and finally reality has come back to haunt us. so the person whose hand is on the steering wheel get the blame. rightfully so,…but turning around a company takes more than a year bro. certainly a bit longer for a country.

tun is doing an ok job. keep it up tun. just listen more. the noises will be loud with the loudest from the ones that were on the gravy train. they know no better because najib has fed them full

H STILL THE BETTER CHOICE, WARTS AND ALL

A number of political developments and events have unfolded over the past few weeks, casting a pall over Malaysia Baru.

They are causing great stress, strain and concern to the people.

1. The Rome Statute

Malaysia will not be ratifying the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) – a month after acceding to the treaty.

A visibly upset Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the government “was forced” to withdraw from the treaty following confusion created by those with political interests.

The foreign minister, meanwhile, revealed that the forces of “the deep state” were busy scheming a coup against the government.

Mahathir also alluded to the involvement of royalty in opposing the treaty.

People are obviously unhappy with this development. Like the ICERD affair, the Rome Statute has fallen victim to spins and misinformation.

Even Umno’s Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah was on record as saying that the royal institution has been misled by overzealous quarters, who include some academics.

Tengku Rithauddeen said that mischief had triumphed over truth in the case.

2. Tabung Haji, Felda and LTAT

Lembaga Tabung Haji continues to be a troubling issue with the latest announcement of 1.25% returns to the depositors for 2018. It is the lowest return in history – the depositors had been enjoying an average return of about 6-7% dividends over the last few years.

The reasons behind this are easy to understand.

TH has been in the red for a few years now on account of abuse and financial mismanagement. They have been operating with a deficit of about RM4.1 billion for 2017, with liabilities of RM74.4 billion outstripping assets of RM70.3 billion.

They have been declaring good dividends over the past few years, not from income but from non-income sources, which is illegal under the Tabung Haji Act 1995. Accounts have been doctored to misrepresent, mislead and distort the true state of affairs.

At a recent special briefing for Pakatan Harapan MPs, it was revealed that the fund had suffered losses amounting to RM10 billion which were kept off the books.

On Felda, the government announced that it had to inject RM6.23 billion following soaring losses and debts over the past decade.

This included the latest police report by Felda on Najib Razak and its purchase of Eagle High Plantations at a highly inflated price of RM2.3 billion, whereas the market price was only RM440 million.

Then, Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu dropped another bombshell when he announced that the audit report for the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) has to be re-declared because its report last year was manipulated.

It remains to be seen how many billions more have been squandered.

It is unfortunate that the PH government is the bringer of bad news, left with the unenviable task of cleaning up the mess.

Yet, many are gullible enough to believe the spins and lies being churned out by some political parties bent on blaming PH for the mess.

3. MA63

The bill to amend the constitution which sought to restore the status of Sabah and Sarawak as equal partners in the Federation of Malaysia was defeated in Parliament with only 138 MPs voting for it while 59 abstained.

How this will pan out remains to be seen, and it will require all the skill, wisdom and foresight of all parties concerned to work out a solution or a compromise.

4. Other troubling issues

In the countdown to the Rantau by-election tomorrow, we see racism and religious bigotry rearing their ugly heads.

PH is still saddled with the legacy of financial and administrative mismanagement, questionable development projects, massive corruption and mega scandals, and a compromised jury and civil service.

The high cost of living continues to be a bane. One cannot fail to mention the real threat of global economic slowdown and trade wars between superpowers.

Silver linings

Yet, there is good reason for us to feel upbeat about the prospects ahead as we look at some of the other significant unfolding events.

  1. PH should still be our choice. The naysayers and prophets of doom will be unimpressed by this latest development. We can expect them to continue with their conspiracy theories, spins and deception. They will stop at nothing to create a wedge between the two men and sow seeds of discord between the component parties of PH.2. Najib’s trialsNajib’s klepto trials are finally underway with the seven charges in relation to SRC International involving RM42 million, while another six CBT charges in relation to 1MDB involving RM6.6 billion will begin next month. The remaining charges will also be tried this year. The people have been waiting for this, after months of debate and trial by media. We shall see when the hard facts are revealed whether the realities will take a bite at the facade of beliefs and perceptions about the cases. And at the end of the day, we will get to see whether the people will continue to cheer and support “Bossku” as some do now.3. ECRLThere are indications that both China and Malaysia are now close to a resolution on the East Coast Rail Link, with the project expected to cost less with a deal for China to buy out palm oil.4. Other positive newsThe controversy surrounding Ronald Kiandee’s chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee is resolved.Right commission Suhakam made a brave finding on how state agents abducted Pastor Raymond Koh and Amri Che Mat.The PH government has finally agreed to launch further investigation into the matter when the police get a new chief next month, so that investigations are not compromised by the involvement of current and previous police chiefs in the cases. There is now greater urgency to establish the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission to address grouses and take enforcement action against the police.Fireman Muhammad Adib’s inquest has also debunked the many allegations by some quarters, especially the extremist groups who see a racial slant to the tragedy. We will realise that there is more good than bad under PH in the New Malaysia. But people are impatient and expect immediate results.

There is still a long way before the next polls. And there is reason for us to remain upbeat that things will get better as we move forward.

When it comes to the crunch, the PH government is still our best bet for a safer and better future. Warts and all, PH is still a better choice than Umno/BN and PAS. They remain trapped in a time warp with the old mindset of racial chauvinism.

Tuan Syed, your observation of “Given the right education, training and attitude the people will flourish” is spot on. That is why there is an emphasis on Muslim education and everything Islamic recently. Maslee as an education minister and Zakar Naik in the Universities are steps taken my the PH government to take Malaysia to the next level – closer to Allah. It is true that “THERE IS NO FREE MARKET IN MALAYSIA” but our economy is moving towards a role model for Muslim countries. Who cares about Mohamed Hassan’s RM10 million ‘money transfer’ case? He is Muslim and only that matters in Malaysia. BN and PAS performed the sembahyang hajat on the eve of Rantau by-election, and Allah gave the victory to a Muslim because Islam is the official religion of the Federation.

Penumpang. Definition:

Passenger – a person who is traveling in an automobile, bus, train, airplane, or other conveyance, especially one who is not the driver, pilot, or the like.

A ‘penumpang’ or ‘passenger’ in the cabinet means a ‘minister who is not contributing meaningfully or significantly to the operations-administration of the cabinet’ in governing the nation.

(someone like, in my personal opinion, Wan Azizah, Maszlee, Redzuan, Rina Harun, wakakaka)

The word ‘passenger’ (penumpang) means exactly that, a person who sits quietly like a non-operator, a penumpang so to speak, while the vehicle (wahana) of government chugs along. A leg-shaker whilst others are striving.

There is no racial connotation in this word as historical use of it is known.

In MM Online’s Tok Mat says ‘penumpang’ remark directed at weak ministers, not just non-Malays (extracts follow)

KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 — Umno acting president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan today asserted that his “penumpang” (squatter) remark was not aimed at non-Malay ministers in the Cabinet.

He said in a Malaysiakini report that he was referring to ministers in the current Cabinet who were not living up to expectations, while blaming Pakatan Harapan (PH) for intentionally smearing his name by misinterpreting his words.

“The ‘penumpang’ I meant were the non-performers in Mahathir’s Cabinet, but it was deliberately misunderstood by Harapan, who claimed I used the word against non-Malay ministers,” said Mohamad said in the news portal’s report.

“I’m sorry to see Mahathir as prime minister. He’s 93 years old, but still has to work hard, because his Cabinet does not deliver,” he added.

I deplore visitor Monsterball’s racist attempt to input a racist meaning to it. Detestable even for a dedak makan-er. P’tui Pariah, Podah.

According to Kadir Jasin (bab 1)

OSMAN Sapian meletakkan jawatan Menteri Besar Johor semalam.

I must be cruel only to be kind.”

Wallahuaklam. Terima kasih.

SULTAN BUKAN TUHAN Tamrin Tun Ghafar

1. “Jika you batalkan juga pindaan ini , saya akan tentang you habis-habisan. You tahu kan negara ini hak siapa . Yes, hak rakyat , bukan hak mereka.

2. “Mereka ini kena patuh Perlembagaan dan undang-undang . Mereka bukan Raja Mutlak saperti Raja-Raja Arab . Rakyat yang meletakkan mereka di situ”.

4. Ketika itu Pak Ghafar ialah Pengerusi Kompleks Kewangan yang juga salah seorang Naib Presiden UMNO.

15. Rakyat jelata mula marah diatas keenganan Raja-Raja memberi persetujuan. Perhimpunan demi perhimpunan membantah sikap Raja-Raja telah diadakan.

Dr Agus – Kerajaan PH, Harapan Yang Musnah

Dr Agus

I could’nt agree more… the buck stops with the PM. I know that politics is a zero-sum game, numbers gives the power.. the power to rule, the power to govern, the power to appoint.. and most of Tun’s appointment has been a big dissapointment.. but somehow, i do believe Tun knows exactly, if not, more of what is happening.. everyone calls him the grand master of politics, macam grand master of chess.. just pray that we rakyat don’t get checked mate sudah le..

If the government via whatever wealth management created by them pull out all their money from listed companies, the bursa malaysia will collapse… Those who really invest are not actual investor but the government… This is sickening, been happening for so long…

the smoking ban has most certainly affected a lot of eateries. i’d suggest that the govt allow some confined space with ventilation just for smokers rather than an outright ban.

We need a leader and his team who are willing to sacrifice themselves by doing away with the 3Rs. Sacrifice here means to be voted out in the next election. Who knows by G_D’s grace they may still be in power after tackeling the issues of the 3Rs since the people in this blog may be the game changers in the election. Tak kan orang yang membaca blog ni buat tak serupa bikin I.e agree with the ideas brought forth by OSTB but did not vote for a total change wrt the 3Rs.

The solution to all this may be remarkably simple: Sooner or later, the whole country will need a massive bailout. Regardless of who it turns to – China or IMF / World Bank, the lender will attach draconian conditions (see Indonesia 1998, Argentina may times): Put an end to NEP. Trim the civil service by 80%. Privatize all GLCs. Stop sponsoring religion. Etc.

We’re not willing to be rational, live within our means and find solutions — fine; someone else will do that for us. And seeing how with a 1 trillion debt, we refuse to shake down the corrupt fat cats and continue to pour more billions into Felda and Tabung Haji and other black holes, that day can’t be very far off.

After the euphoria, we have been led down the garden path. Time is running out and if Harapan doesn’t pull up their socks, they are going to be a “one-hit” wonder. If the old man kicked the bucket, all is lost. They need to get back on track and right now. There’s too much distractions and they are giving their opponents too much credit. That itself is keeping them from venturing out to fulfill their promises. Above it all, they bungle on a lot of things that affect the economy. Minimum wage is the real killer because it kills many SMCs and labor-intensive businesses. They should sell off the GLCs and let businessmen turn them into winners. The cost of maintaining their management alone would kill off any profit and the ability to thrive.

Simple issues made complicated…

Ministers are not experienced and not performing at all.

While Dr M has been there for quite some time, most of them are pretty useless. While i do support the government recent events have made me disillusioned.

Maszlee is not doing anything , Syed Saddiq is another guy who plays on instagram more than working – defintely too inexperienced to be made a minister ,Redzuan Yusof – i dont even know what portfolio he is holding but dude he is just talking nonsense. WHatever ministerial portfolios, there are all important for the country.

I have no issues if you need to select people from your party to fill the post but its quite hard to believe that there are nobody better.

Thank god Osman is out, such a clown.

Anon kata : RAMAI YANG CAKAP BANYAK. RAKYAT KITA KURANG PATRIOTIK. MINTA HAPUSKAN CUKAI KERETA IMPORT. RAKYAT JEPUN UTAMAKAN BARANGAN TEMPATAN DAN TAK INGIN PUN NAK PAKAI KERETA IMPORT. . .

Tingkap rosak, enjin cepat rosak, body Wira cepat karat, kereta low kualiti kelas tiga. Di jual pula dengan harga paling mahal.

Lepas tu untuk jaga market share kereta buruk ini, letak cukai tinggi dan AP utk memaksa rakyat bayar harga dua kali harga pasaran dunia untuk beli kereta jenama lain. Ini adalah perbuatan mengkhianati rakyat negara kita. Inilah pengkhianat bangsa. Jangan mengkhianati orang.

The issues carry big amount (AP, toll, GlCs strong-hold, except Zakir Naik perhaps) and consequences which reminds of the need for a structurd promoter.

Recall the ‘ship-to-ship’ oil plan, then all these issues may have to be sent to the useful ‘owners-contractor’ to make them ‘start work’ imo.

Just recievef a highspeed hdmi extension cable (male-female) from Lazada – sent from China. The price is amazing :RM17 plus 7 for delivery. No crazy taxes ☺

Hi Syed,

Concur with you on most of the points but beg to differ on the smoking ban as now most families have no qualms bringing out their children to coffee shops for meals without inhaling secondary smoke. The Philippines has gone one step further in implementing smoke ban in all the clubs and pubs as well.

The real problem is the mentality of the people especially the rural folks. They think Mahathir has the magic stick that changes everything on 10-May 2019. As you said it is the economy not a building with a fixed timeline.About the ECRL vs abolishing tolls, we all know very well that Najib signed a stupid lopsided agreement with China and if Malaysia terminate the agreement, the penalty is 2 x the cost,RM130 billion. The rural and the malays cannot understand this or they just don;t care. They want higher BRIM,cheaper goods etc.

Yes some or quite a number of Ministers are dungus. The most critical position is KPDNKK held by Saifuddin Nasution. Have anyone heard of any statements or action plan by him on consumer goods matter? All i hear is his statement about his own party PKR,unless the media chose not to publish his ministerial duties statement, which i don’t think so.Because he is from PKR, PM cannot replace him as then brader will get upset and his daughter will start attacking Tun from Singapore. How to progress like this?
