MACC receives consent from AGC to prosecute Ahmad Zahid Hamidi

KUALA LUMPUR (June 25): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has received consent from the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) to prosecute former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow (June 26) and subsequently at the Shah Alam Sessions Court on June 27.

In a statement today, MACC said Ahmad Zahid will face several charges in both courts under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009 and Section 165 of the Penal Code.

It said Ahmad Zahid was arrested at the MACC headquarters at Putrajaya yesterday at 10am, after completing the final process of investigation involving Overseas Visa System.
