We only die once, right?

April 4, 2020

Let’s see what the Scripture tells us …

Verily, verily, I say unto you,
The hour is coming, and now is,
when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God:
and they that hear shall live.
For as the Father hath life in himself;
so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
And hath given him authority to execute judgment also,
because he is the Son of man.
Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming,
in the which all that are in the graves
shall hear his voice, And shall come forth;
they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life;
and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

John 5:25-29

What does “they that have done good” mean?

… Repent, and be baptized every one of you
in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:38

“Unto the resurrection of life” – what is it about and why seek it?

It’s about eternal life in heaven where God lives – an eternal city that “eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9) It’s a place where “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

It’s a place Jesus had promised, saying: “In my Father’s house are many mansions: … I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:2-3) And the best part when we are with Jesus in heaven? “We shall also reign with him.” (2 Timothy 2:12)

Alleluia! Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God!
