Core belief of various sects & major religions of the world

October 23, 2020

Following is a snapshot of various belief systems for the common folk to help one get a quick grasp of what it’s all about. It’s by no means comprehensive.

* What Is A Cult?
* What Is Christianity?

1. Atheist – Believe there is no God.
– How did mankind come into being? Who is responsible for creating the universe and everything therein we have around us? And if there’s no God, why then at the same time do the majority of atheists believe in the devil?

2. Agnostic – Believe nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God.
– How did mankind learn to know right and wrong, moral and immoral, good and evil?

3. Secular – Believe in a political or social philosophy that rejects all forms of religious faith and worship. It especially ensures public education and all matters of civil policy should be conducted without any religious involvement.
Spiritual deadness is the order of the day and mankind is essentially left to function based on opinions, feelings and preferences.

4. Darwinism/Evolution (1-4 inclusive, 1.2 billion : 15.2%)* – Believe in the beginning there was nothing. Then suddenly the universe came into being by a ‘Big Bang’ billions of years ago, and everything came into existence from one single cell through the process of evolution that took many millions of years.
– Can something happen out of nothing? Who or what caused the ‘Big Bang’? Why is there still not a single evidence of evolution available? Surely, after so many millions of years, mankind would be seeing and tripping over evidence of one specie evolving into another everywhere we look and set foot on.

5. Animism (1.9 million : 0.02%) – Believe everything has a spirit and there are countless spiritual beings handling human affairs and are capable of helping or harming their interests.
– Everything has a spirit?! Including this screen the article appears on? The spiritual beings – where do they come from and who is in charge?

6. Shinto (4 million : 0.05%) – Believe humans are thought to be fundamentally good, and evil is believed to be caused by evil spirits. Consequently, the purpose of most Shinto rituals is to keep away evil spirits by purification, prayers and offerings to the ‘kami.’
– Family tradition, love of nature, honoring ancestors and worshiping gods are central. There is no consideration for salvation of the soul after death. And if there are evil spirits, there must also be good spirits, right?

7. Bahai (7 million : 0.09%) – Believe in unity of all religions.
– How is this possible when Islam is at odds with every other belief system and has a mission to subdue all of them? Yes, the here and now is important, but what about the hereafter?

8. Judaism (14.7 million : 0.18%) – Believe there is only one God and that He makes covenant (agreement) with His people and His promised-Messiah (Jesus Christ) has yet to come.
– A majority of Jews still do not accept Jesus came to Earth 2,000 years ago to die the ultimate death for mankind, despite fulfilled prophecy, historical record of his death & resurrection plus archaeological evidence of his blood found on the Ark of the Covenant by Ron Wyatt.

9. Sikhism (26 million : 0.30%) – Believe that all men and women are inherently good and are equal before God, and that the way to become closer to God is to be of service to fellow human beings.
– What about after one is dead, does one still “become closer to” or “is now in the presence of” God? Is there no life after death?

10. Taoism/Confucianism (394 million : 5%) – Believe in a Chinese philosophy based on the writings of Lao-tzu, advocating humility and religious piety.
– In essence Taoism encourages one to live a good way of life. Salvation of the soul is not given consideration though.

11. Buddhism (506 million : 6.6%) – Believe in attaining Enlightenment by abstaining from all desires, including not having a family (Siddhartha Gautama, a Hindu prince, left the palace and abandoned his wife and son).
– It would be very unfortunate and sad in the end because there would no longer be any human being on Earth. In the first place, how did mankind come about and where will the souls return to, and what will happen to them?

12. Hinduism (1.2 billion : 15.6%) – Believe in getting rid of bad karma and attaining a higher self through the continuous cycle of life, death, and reincarnation.
– When one goes all the way back to first cause, what bad karma would one be getting rid of? There was no life before the first life. Therefore there can be no bad karma to get rid of.

13. Catholicism (1.3 billion : 15.8%) – Believe the Pope is a physical stand-in for Jesus Christ on Earth, can pray to Mary the earthly mother of Jesus for special favors and Catholics must confess their sins to the priest and receive forgiveness (from the priest) & absolution in order to reconcile themselves with God and the Church.
– Catholic teachings contravene Bible Scriptures. Notice for example the first thing one sees in a Catholic church is the presence of many statues of their ‘Saints.’ This is a major transgression of the second commandment of God which states that “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image … Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God …

14. Islam (All sects inclusive, 1.9 billion : 24.9%) – Believe there’s only one God who is called Allah, Muhammad is his messenger, the Quran comes directly from Allah and is perfect; and there’s no guarantee one will go to heaven no matter how much effort one puts into it.
– Many teachings of the faith do not conform with present day knowledge e.g. “the sun sets in a spring of warm, murky water,” “a baby is formed from a clot of congealed blood,” “one of the wings of a house-fly has a disease and the other has its cure, and if a house-fly falls into a drink one should dip it in the drink.” Believers are also told when they perform jihad to kill for Allah and if they also get killed in the process, they’ll immediately go to heaven where 72 virgins are waiting to serve the male jihadists. However, no such promise awaits the female jihadists. Oddly, Muslims are not allowed to drink alcohol on Earth but in heaven there will be rivers of wine for them to enjoy. So it seems for the sacrificed female jihadists there’s still something for them to look forward to in heaven.

15. Christianity (Non-Catholic, 1.1 billion : 15.3%) – Believe all souls belong to God and all of mankind are born sinners. To avoid eternal death (going to hell) mankind needs a Savior as atonement for our sins to set things right with God. And because He loves mankind, God Himself provided the Savior, as the Lamb of God, to shed his blood and die for our sins and redeem our souls. Salvation is a free gift from God for all. It is not of works; no one can do anything to save himself or herself to get to heaven.
– Jesus Christ was that Savior as prophesied and there are historical and archaeological evidence to prove he walked on Earth; was crucified and died; came back to life on the third day; and returned to heaven 40 days after – all these events came to pass 2,000 years ago and were witnessed by many and recorded down.
